MANKATO MAN SENTENCED IN SEXUAL ASSAULT, BEATING

A Mankato man has been sentenced to almost 49 years in prison in the sexual assault and beating of his ex-girlfriend.   John Robert Olson was originally arrested on August 25 of last year and was charged with nine crimes including violating a no-contact order, kidnapping, sexual conduct and assault.  Olson was convicted in June and sentenced Tuesday.  He will serve 30 years in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud for first-degree criminal sexual assault, 17 years for first degree assault and a half year for violating the no-contact order.  Once he serves his sentence, he will spend 10 years on probation.
