KC sweeps Twins
(Kansas City, MO) — The Kansas City Royals completed a three-game sweep of the Minnesota Twins with a 2-0 win at Kauffman Stadium yesterday. The game was scoreless until the fifth when Garrett Hampson and Salvador Perez each drove in a run. Michael Wacha earned his 12th win of the season after striking out seven and holding Minnesota to four hits over seven scoreless innings. Lucas Erceg picked up his 11th save. The Royals are just two-and-a-half games behind Cleveland for first place in the A-L Central. Simeon Woods Richardson was charged with his fourth loss after giving up two runs on three hits in four-and-a-third innings. The Twins have a three-and-a-half game lead over Detroit and Seattle for the final A-L Wild Card spot. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli didn’t take questions from reporters following the game, instead just calling the weekend “an unprofessional series” for his team and finished the briefing after 17-seconds. Minnesota begins a three-game series against the L-A Angels tonight in Minneapolis.
