Juvenile Taken Into Custody for Social Media Threats to Schools
(Learfield News/St. Paul, MN) — A juvenile was taken into custody after admitting to posting threats on social media that caused two charter schools in St. Paul to close Thursday.
The online threats began Wednesday with someone saying they were going to commit a shooting at over 20 schools in St. Paul, prompting the Community School of Excellence and Hope Community Academy to cancel classes for the day.
The 12-year-old girl who admitted to making the threats was later released to her family.
Police say the threat had no credibility and no one was in danger.
That came just one week after a school shooting by a 14-year-old student in Georgia that killed four people and injured nine others.
