Reds Take First Game Of Series
The Twins opened a three-game home series against Cincinnati by losing on Friday night, 8-4. The game was tied 1-1 after six innings, but Cincinnati scored six runs in the seventh to take a 7-1 lead. Minnesota got three runs back in the bottom of the seventh to pull within 7-4, but that was as close as they could get. Bailey Ober takes the loss. He pitched six-and-two-thirds innings, giving up five earned runs, six hits, two walks and recording six strikeouts. The Twins fall to 78-69. With 15 games remaining, they lead in the race for the third and final wild card spot by two-and-a-half games over Detroit, three-and-a-half over Seattle, and four-and-a-half over Boston. In the American League Central race, the Twins are five-and-a-half games behind first place Cleveland. Minnesota and Cincinnati continue the series at Target Field with a game at 6:10 tonight, coverage begins at 5:30pm on KNUJ and SAM 107.3.
