Twins Fall To Guardians

Cleveland’s designated hitter Kyle Manzardo hit a two-run home run off Minnesota reliever Griffin Jax in the bottom of the eighth inning to push the Guardians to a come-from-behind 4-3 win over the Twins. Minnesota held a 3-0 lead after three innings thanks, in part, to a two-run single by Byron Buxton. Jax took the loss, while Cleveland’s Andrew Walters notched the win and Emmanuel Clase (clah-SAY) earned the save. The 87-64 Guardians lead over Kansas City in the A-L Central is now five-games, while Minnesota’s cushion for the final A-L Wild Card spot is down to a game-and-a-half over Detroit. The Twins are 79-71. Minnesota right-hander Pablo Lopez worked into the seventh inning, but didn’t factor into the decision. Game two of the four-game series is tonight at 5:40 P-M.
