Bruce L. Kelly

Bruce L. Kelly, age 59 of Le Sueur, passed away at home surrounded by his wife and children on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Le Sueur at 10:30 A.M. Visitation will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M., with a Knights of Columbus Rosary starting at 2:45 P.M., at the church and continued one hour before the Mass. Interment will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Le Sueur. Lunch to follow the Mass at St. Anne’s School.

Bruce was born on August 10, 1965 in Faribault, Minnesota to Walter and Ludmilla (Edel) Kelly. He grew up in rural Kilkenny and attended Montgomery High School where he graduated in 1984. Following high school, Bruce attended college at Alexandria, Normandale and the University of Minnesota where he received his bachelor's degree in law enforcement. After college, Bruce worked in Rice County in water patrol, Le Center on their police department, and moved to Le Sueur in 1988 where he continued his law enforcement duties as Interim., Chief of Police in Cleveland and Henderson. He became the Chief of Police in Le Sueur in 1999 until his retirement in 2022.

He was involved in the Knights of Columbus, Ancient Order of Hibernians, was a youth wrestling and football coach.

Bruce was a valuable member of the Le Sueur Community and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa of Le Sueur; their children, Jacob (Partner, Presley Sue Borgmann) and Jaden (Sp. Friend, Briley Plym) Kelly of Le Sueur; siblings, Jim (Cathy) Kelly of Eden Prairie, MN, John (Monica) Kelly of Waterville, MN, Scott (Krystyna) Kelly of Aurora, CO and brother-in-law, Dale Gregor of Land O’ Lakes, FL; brothers-in-law, Shawn (Missy) Brenke of Henderson, MN and Shane (Dawn) Brenke of Le Sueur, MN, and Mother and Father in Law Carole (Kevin) Ernst of Henderson, MN. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Gregor and father-in-law, Earl Brenke.
