Michael “Dixie” Mix Death Notice

Michael “Dixie” Mix died Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at his home in Dawson at the age of 65.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with Rev. Pat Moe officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service.

Michael John Mix was born August 18, 1959 in Dawson, MN the son of Lawrence and Leona (Fosse) Mix. He grew up in Dawson and graduated from Dawson – Boyd High School in 1978. Mike served in the MN Army National Guard for 15 years. He was united in marriage with Eva Brown on August 9, 1984. They made their home in Dawson and he worked for Dawson Engineering. He enjoyed hunting with his brothers, camping and bonfires, having a cold one with friends and family, and going to the casino.

He is survived by his wife, Eva; their children: Joey (Dawn Schmitt) Bloom of Mineral Point, WI and Misty (Dan) Nelson of Dawson; ten grandchildren: Ashley, Brianna, Samarah, Alexis, Skyla, Dawsen, Isaiah, Jerimiah, Ted, and Jade; a brother, Eugene Mix of Dawson; a sister, Murla (Ben) Parrow; a sister-in-law, Darcy Mix of Montevideo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his in-laws: Burnell and Florence Brown; brothers: Melvin and Richard; sister-in-law, Dawn Mix; and a niece, Charity Mix.
