Hutchinson Approves Preliminary Levy
The Hutchinson City Council approved the 2025 preliminary levy Tuesday night.
The council discussed two scenarios.
When both the EDA and HRA levy’s are figured in, the total tax impact with the first option would be an increase of 6.9 percent.
The second option, which also factors in the expectation of purchasing a new fire truck and continuing roadway improvement plans, would call for an increase of 7.6 percent.
The council approved the second option. Officials say on a median priced home, calculated at $275,000, that would mean an increase of $192.
The council will vote to finalize the levy in December and can reduce the total, but cannot increase it more than what was approved Tuesday.
