David Raasch
David Alan Raasch, age 70 of Shorewood, Minnesota, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, at home surrounded by his wife Susan and family after battling a rare brain disease.
Visitation for David Raasch will be held Friday October 4, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Oak Knoll Lutheran Church 600 Hopkins Crossroad Minnetonka, MN.
Funeral services for David Alan Raasch will be at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Knoll Lutheran Church 600 Hopkins Crossroad Minnetonka, MN.
Interment will in Remembrance Garden, Huber Funeral Home 520 Second Street Excelsior, MN, 55331 952-474-9595.
David was born to Milton & Evelyn (Mathison) Raasch in Morris, MN March 27, 1954.
He graduated from Morris High School in 1972 and later earned his Associate Degree in Business Management from Inver Grove Community College. He spent a life long career in the lumber business where he met Susan in a lumberyard. He was an engineer and sales rep for roof trusses and later general manager for several building companies in the Twin Cities and ultimately in North Mankato for Lloyd Lumber Truss Company.
SGT David Raasch spent 8 years in the US Army Reserve. He was a Crew Chief in the helicopter unit, specializing in avionic mechanics. He earned Army Service Ribbons for his sharp shooter skills. He was very proud of his service to his country. David was a skilled carpenter volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, Homes for Disabled Veterans, and anyone that needed his help.
He loved being a father, wrestling with his grandsons, riding horses, hunting with his nephews, fishing with friends, family gatherings and food was his favorite. David was a faithful active church member enjoying fellowship and serving God. David had a warm smile and zest for life that was contagious. He will be forever missed.
David is survived by his wife of 49 years: Susan Raasch (Berry); daughters: Naomi (Rory) Synstelien of Wayzata, MN, Jessica (Richard) DeLisa of St. Louis Park, MN; two grandsons: Jack and Bodhi; siblings: Debra (Mark) Erickson of Donnelly, MN, Jeanne Rosdahl of Clear Lake, MN, Julie Brandt of Becker, MN, James Raasch of Morris, MN, and Gregory (Mary) Raasch of Pequot Lakes, MN; numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, and grand nieces.
He is preceded in death by his father Milton (1982), mother Evelyn (2021); nephew Jeff Ellison (2016), brother in law Mike Rosdahl (2023), father in law Harold Berry (2017) and grandparents.
