Tiger Gameday – Week 6
Tiger Gameday – Week 6
Last Game: Becker 49 Hutchinson 6
Game Recap: Wasn’t a lot to like about that game so let me give you some stats. The last time Hutch went into Run Time as the losing team was in 2015 (Also vs Becker), The last 3 loss season for Hutch was in 2017, and the Last 3 game losing streak was in…Well, we don’t know. It’s not happened as long as Joel has been here at KDUZ and he started here in 2002.
Current Record: 2-3
This Week’s Opponent: Willmar (0-5)
About the Opponent: Well that 3 game gauntlet is over and can this be a “Get Right” game against another struggling team? Willmar has played some teams tough this year, but overall have run out of gas in the second half a bit. The Cards were only down by a Touchdown or less at the half to Becker and Rocori. Willmar will try and spread you out and they want the big play on offense. Defense has struggled a bit giving up an average of 30 points per game.
Key Hutch Players: Everyone. Not going to single out a position or people here. Every player out there needs to improve down the stretch of this season. A kids mindset can get shaken when on a stretch like this. You have to put last week behind you and play your game this week. Who’s gonna be the one…or ones…to step up and try and get a win?
4 Downs/Storylines:
First Down: Turnovers. Last week was the first time all season Hutch has not LOST the turnover battle. And last week was 4/4….4 turnovers forced from becker and 4 turnovers given to becker so it was even. Good teams don’t give the ball up when they have it. And KUDOS to the defense for forcing 4 turnovers last week! Keep it up!
Second Down: Stop Willmar’s Big Plays. The Cardinals will try and spread you out, shotgun with 4 WR’s and they want to hit the big play. When their big plays have been shut down they have struggled to move the ball and keep drives going. We think Hutch’s DB’s are the strength of the defense…can Willmar beat Hutch’s strength?
Third Down: Focus on yourself. Football has been called the ultimate team game. You need 11 people doing their jobs correctly to be successful. Each kid should know their job on a given play. Trust the guy next to you and do your job. Get back to basics and hopefully feeling good about your play.
4th Down/Quick Hit Keys: I’m hesitant to type this as I dont’ want to put any extra pressure on, but Hutch is going to kick extra points now! Yes, I typed that correctly. Look for the debut of another “Diaper Dandy” this week if Hutch gets into the end zone. Oh and for those wondering, we asked and the answer is 2017. The last year Hutch had a regular kicker to boot extra points…Section standings tightening up a bit, Tigers need some wins to secure a home game
