“WIND CHILL” TERMINOLOGY CHANGING

“Wind chill” watches, warnings and advisories are being replaced this winter by “extreme cold” watches, warnings and advisories.  National Weather Service Meterologist Joe Calderone says the new messaging focuses on what you’re feeling outside.  He says they aren’t replacing the wind chill, it’s just going to focus on the cold aspect whether the wind is there or not.  He says those dangerous impacts include hypothermia and frostbite.
