Liberty tie WNBA Finals at 1 game a piece

(Brooklyn, NY) — The Minnesota Lynx fell behind by 17 points in Game Two of the W-N-B-A Finals yesterday and could not recover, losing at New York 80-66. The Lynx cut the lead to two points 66-64, but were outscored 16-2 in the final four-minutes of the game. Liberty star Breanna Stewart scored 21 points, grabbed eight rebounds and forced seven steals in pushing her team to the win. Minnesota was led by Napheesa Collier, who scored 16 points, had eight rebounds, but also committed seven turnovers. Lynx point guard Courtney Williams had five turnovers, but scored 15 points and had had eight assists. Minnesota trailed 46-29 with 3:21 to go in the third quarter and went on a 33-18 run to close the gap to two points with 6:46 left in the game. The Liberty then finished the game off with their stretch run. Minnesota rallied from an 18-point deficit to win Game One on Thursday 95-93 in overtime. The best-of-five series is tied at a game apiece and will shift to Minnesota for Games Three and Four on Wednesday and Friday.
