DROUGHT CONDITIONS COULD BE WORSE
Drought conditions in Minnesota would be even worse if we didn’t have the wettest April through June on record. Assistant State Climatologist Pete Boulay says Mother Nature turned off the faucet in September. Boulay says the deep soil profile still has a lot of water in it. The top two feet there’s barely anything left but below that there is some deep soil moisture and that is good. He says southeastern and northwestern Minnesota could get enough rain in the next few weeks to put a dent in the drought. There is also rain in the forecast for the KNUJ area with possibly around a half inch Wednesday night.
