2 Gophers up for National awards

(Minneapolis, MN) — As the Gophers continue to prepare for a road trip to face Rutgers this weekend, two of their newer faces have been nationally recognized. The Maxwell Football Club announced 14 semifinalists for the 7th annual Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award presented to the outstanding freshman player in college football today. Amongst the finalists are Minnesota defensive backs Kerry Brown and Koi Perich. The award will be announced on December 4th. Both will be important keys this weekend as the Gophers look for a fifth consecutive win when they face the Scarlett Knights. Kick off is at 11 A-M on Saturday morning in Piscataway, New Jersey.
