Kurashev’s OT goal lifts Blackhawks over Wild 2-1
CHICAGO, IL – Philipp Kurashev scored 1:48 into overtime to lift the Chicago Blackhawks to a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night, snapping the Hawks’ two-game losing streak.
Kurashev’s decisive goal came on a powerful shot from the left wing, beating Minnesota goaltender Filip Gustavsson glove-side. Petr Mrazek was stellar in net, stopping 32 shots and helping Chicago end a frustrating 12-game skid against the Wild—Chicago’s first win over Minnesota since December 15, 2019.
Matt Boldy tied the game for the Wild with 4:31 left in the third period, capitalizing on their 32nd shot of the night. Jason Dickinson had put the Blackhawks on the board first, scoring in the opening frame.
In the third period, Mrazek made several critical saves, including a series of quick stops on point-blank shots, as the Wild outshot Chicago 19-4 in the period and 33-22 overall. Gustavsson finished with 20 saves for Minnesota.
With a 10-2-3 record and 23 points, the Wild are off to their best start after 15 games in franchise history.
Looking ahead, the Wild will host Montreal on Thursday, while the Blackhawks will visit Seattle.
