Hutchinson Adopts Cannabis Ordinance

With statewide sales expected to begin next year, the city of Hutchinson has approved an ordinance Tuesday regulating the sale of cannabis.

City officials had previously stated they are “handcuffed” on what they can regulate because of state requirements and they would try to mirror the city’s ordinance for off-sale alcohol as closely as possible.

The city council approved the cannabis ordinance which includes regulations on registration, compliance, hours of operation and sale of permitted products. The ordinance also addresses suspension of registration if retailers are found to be not complying with the regulations.

Hours of operation for cannabis retailers would be permitted between 8am and 10pm Monday through Saturday and from 10am to 9pm on Sunday.
