Gopher Mens Basketball loses at home to North Texas

(Minneapolis, MN) — Dawson Garcia led all players with 24 points and eight rebounds, becoming the 47th Gophers player to reach 1,000 career points, but Minnesota (2-1) couldn’t overcome a cold shooting night, as North Texas (3-0) held on for a 54-51 win at Williams Arena. Garcia made 6-of-9 field goals, including both of his three-point attempts, and was a perfect 10-of-10 at the free throw line, but Minnesota finished the night just 15-of-48 (.313), including 6-of-23 (.261) from beyond the arc. Lu’Cye Patterson had nine points, and Trey Edmonds finished with six points and seven rebounds, but the Gophers’ second-half rally from a nine-point halftime deficit fell just short. The Gophers are next on the floor on Saturday afternoon when they host Yale at 3 P-M.
