Sharpe and Clingan power the Trail Blazers to a 106-98 victory over the Timberwolves
PORTLAND, OR – Shaedon Sharpe led the way with 33 points, and Donovan Clingan came up just short of a triple-double with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and eight blocks as the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 106-98 for the second consecutive night on Wednesday.
Anthony Edwards put up 24 points for the Timberwolves, who blew an early lead and dropped their third straight game.
The game was tied heading into the fourth quarter, but Portland seized control thanks to Clingan’s stellar defense. The big man recorded four blocks in the final frame as the Timberwolves struggled, hitting just one of their first 11 shots in the period.
The Blazers then pushed their advantage into double digits with a pair of free throws from Sharpe, making it 89-78, and held on for the win.
Next up, Minnesota will travel to Sacramento on Friday, while Portland has a few days off before hosting Atlanta on Sunday.
