MTGA to Present Gov with Turkey in Celebration of Thanksgiving

SAINT PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Turkey Growers Association (MTGA) will continue its longstanding tradition of presenting a live turkey today (Tuesday) to the Governor of Minnesota in celebration of Thanksgiving.

Officials say the annual event, a cherished tradition since the 1940s, underscores the important role the turkey industry plays in Minnesota’s agricultural landscape.

This year, Governor Tim Walz will be presented with a tom raised on Fahlun Farms in Lake Lillian, MN, owned by MTGA President, Jake Vlaminck.

The bird is currently being cared for and prepped for the big day by Paisley VonBerge, member of the Hutchinson FFA Chapter.

In addition to the presentation to Governor Walz, the MTGA will also celebrate its commitment to fighting hunger in Minnesota.

Every year, the association donates $10,000 worth of turkey products, raised through proceeds from the Turkey to Go® stand at the Minnesota State Fair.

This year, the donation will go to Second Harvest Heartland.
