MN Frost raise Championship Banner, then lose in OT

(St. Paul, MN) — Alex Carpenter scored in overtime to lift the Sirens over the Frost with a 4-3 victory at Xcel Energy Center on Sunday night. Before the game, the Frost raised their Walter Cup banner to the rafters celebrating their P-W-H-L championship from last season. Grace Zumwinkle and Kendall Coyne Schofield combined to give Minnesota the 2-0 lead in the first but New York tied the game with a pair of goals in the second. The two teams then exchanged third period goals – including Dominique Petrie’s game tying marker late in regulation to force overtime – but in the end it was the Sirens that took the opener. Hensley suffered the overtime loss on 16 saves in front of an announced crowd of 8,022.
