Lori was born October 12, 1957 in Panama City, Florida to Orville and Carol (Dirks) Trisko. Lori and family returned to the Herman area following Orville’s time in the Navy. Her parents bought the local grocery store “Trisko’s Supermarket” in 1974 and Lori spent much of her free time between school and on weekends helping run the store and doing grocery deliveries.
Lori attended school in Herman graduating in 1976. She attended Alexandria Technical College in the fall of 1976 and following graduation pursued a degree in clerical training and data processing. Lori met Mike Gaulrapp when Mike’s sister Donna brought her out to the Gaulrapp farm southwest of Herman when she was around thirteen years old. Lori and Donna were close friends and spent a lot of time together, so Mike got to see a lot of Lori. Orville (Lori’s dad) would often say “what’s that old guy doing hanging around?” , even though Mike was only three years older. They did not officially start dating until Lori was attending college and were engaged around Christmas time in 1976. Mike said he trapped fox earlier that fall and sold the hides to help pay for her engagement ring. Lori married Mike Gaulrapp on June 21, 1980 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Herman, Minnesota.
Mike and Lori moved to Breckenridge when Lori got a job at St. Francis Hospital where she worked for thirty years. They bought a farmstead south of Breckenridge in 1984 where they lived together for forty years up to the day of her passing. In September of 1989 they welcomed their one and only daughter, Kendra.
Lori and Mike enjoyed motorcycle trips around the country, camping, music festivals and snowmobile trips up north. The couple were able to visit most of the national parks. They attended Moondance Jam music festival in Walker, Minnesota for over fifteen years and met many wonderful lifelong friends. Lori worked at the Grant County Fair (horticultural building) for many years following in the footsteps of her mother Carol and grandmother Nellie Trisko who both worked at the fair for over fifty years. She has passed the love of the fair to her daughter Kendra who has also worked at the fair now with her own daughter Mia.
Summer months were spent at the lake cabin on Pelican Lake by Ashby. Lori was always the first one to the cabin and the last one to leave. Lots of time was spent around the campfire with family and friends. Every October over her birthday she would sneak away to West Chester, Pennsylvania to her sister Janet’s house to avoid birthday attention and the reality of getting older. She looked forward to this time with her sister and together they enjoyed getting a head start on all their Christmas shopping for the year. The most joyful moment in Lori’s life was when she became a grandma. Kendra and Andrew blessed her and Mike with five grandchildren who quickly became her whole world. She was great at spoiling them every chance she could get.
Lori is survived by her husband: Michael Gaulrapp of Breckenridge, MN; daughter: Kendra (Andrew) Jipson of Graceville, MN; five grandchildren: Mia, Dawson, Cash, Scout, and McCoy of Graceville, MN; mother: Carol McRoberts of Herman, MN; and sister: Janet (Tony) VanReymersdal of Westchester, PA.
Lori was preceded in death by her father Orville Trisko; an infant brother; and grandparents: Art and Nellie Trisko and Herman and Fanny Dirks.
Arrangements are with Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton, MN.
