Gopher Mens BB falls in Indiana

Dawson Garcia made 9-of-15 field goals and scored a game-high 22 points for Minnesota (6-5, 0-2 Big Ten), but Indiana (8-2, 1-0 B1G) shot 56.6 percent and had five players reach double figures, as the Hoosiers opened Big Ten play with an 82-67 win at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Garcia scored 20-plus points for the seventh time this season and added four rebounds, two blocked shots, a steal, and an assist for the Gophers. Mike Mitchell Jr. scored 10 points in his first start since Nov. 9, and Lu’Cye Patterson had 10 points, four rebounds, two assists, and a pair of steals. As a team, Minnesota made 26-of-55 (473) field goals and was 13-of-15 (867) at the free throw line, but the Gophers were outrebounded, 35-22. Oumar Ballo led the Hoosiers with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Malik Reneau finished with 16 points and seven boards, and Bryson Tucker had 16 points and six rebounds.
