AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING RURAL NEW ULM DEATH

Authorities are investigating a death on a farm near New Ulm New Year’s Eve.  Nicollet County authorities were called for the report of a missing person on a farm in Lafayette Township at 5:27 pm.  Authorities learned 85-year-old John Huelskamp went outside to do some work with his cattle and had not been seen for an unknown amount of time.  Deputies responded and started to search the area for Huelskamp.  Agencies including the New Ulm Police K9 unit, New Ulm Fire Department, Minnesota state patrol air unit and the Sibley County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit searched until shortly after midnight and did not find Huelskamp.  The search resumed Wednesday morning around 7:15 and his body was found on the property.  An autopsy will be conducted and the investigation continues.
