SISTER IDENTIFIES WINDOM STABBING VICTIM
The man who died in a stabbing in Windom New Year’s Eve has been identified. An online fundraising campaign started by Brittany Layman identifies the victim as her brother 30-year-old Benjamin Matter. Matter and a 31-year-old man were both stabbed at the Phat Pheasant Pub in Windom around 11:45 pm Tuesday. Matter died at Windom hospital and the other man suffered serious injuries. The suspect is a 26-year-old man from San Diego, California who suffered minor injuries. He remains in the Cottonwood County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder, second-degree assault and terroristic threats. The investigation is ongoing.
