Gopher WBB Rallies for win
(Minneapolis, MN) — The Golden Gopher women’s basketball team won a third straight Big Ten game, beating Illinois at Williams Arena yesterday 68-61. Minnesota trailed by 11 points in third quarter before outscoring the visiting Fighting Illini 28-13 in the fourth quarter to secure the win. The Gophers are now 15-1 overall and 3-1 in the Big Ten. Illinois dipped to 11-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The win the 400th in the career of Minnesota head coach Dawn Plitzuweit. Gopher sophomore guard Grace Grocholski led the way with 19 points, while junior Mallory Heyer registered a ten-point, ten-rebound double-double. Amaya Battle, Tori McKinney and Annika Stewart all contributed 11 points apiece. The Golden Gophers host Rutgers on Wednesday night at 7 P-M at The Barn. The Scarlet Knights at 8-7 on the season.
