Empowering Communities, Celebrating Minnesota Locally

MN and USDA Award $9.5 Million to Strengthen Food Supply Chain Infrastructure

(Learfield News) Minnesota has partnered with the USDA in awarding 11 state projects 9.5 million dollars in funding to help strengthen local and regional food systems.

State Ag Commissioner Thom Peterson says the focus is on the middle areas.

He says, “Whether we are doing oat processing in southern Minnesota or boosting our aging dairy economy, this grant is going to allow us to do good things in Minnesota to help grow our economy but also add some resiliency to our food system.”

Peterson says the idea of this program came out of the COVID pandemic when we faced several supply chain challenges.
