Gov Announces Child Care Grants

Governor Walz has announced $6.1-million in grants to expand access to child care across Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development has awarded 25 organizations with Child Care Economic Development Grants which is expected to expand child care capacity by 1,400 slots statewide.

$5.1-million will go towards increasing child care availability in Greater Minnesota.

The funding will enable communities to invest in new or expanding child care businesses including facility improvements, worker training, attraction, retention and licensing.

Among those receiving funding include a child care center in Winthrop, the city of Hutchinson, Renville County, and Mapleton Economic Development Authority.
