Chippewa County Cannabis Moratorium

Chippewa County has placed a moratorium on issuing licenses for cannabis sales. The West Central Tribune reports the unanimous vote by the County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday gives the county until Jan. 1, 2025, to adopt regulations on cannabis sales in the county. Scott Williams, land and resource management director for the county, proposed the moratorium saying the county currently has no ordinances regulating cannabis. Williams said the focus will be to develop recommendations on zoning for retail sales and that there is no intent to impose usage or consumption restrictions.
