Wild win in Shootout

(St. Paul, MN) — Mats Zuccarello scored the only Wild goal of regulation and added the clincher in the shootout as the Wild beat the Avalanche 2-1 on Tuesday night. Zuccarello’s 15th goal of the season came midway through the second period to open the scoring. It was answered with about five minutes left in regulation by Joel Kiviranta and that was enough to force overtime and eventually the shootout. While both Zuccarello and Matt Boldy scored for Minnesota, Nathan MacKinnon and Martin Necas were both stopped for Colorado and the Wild grabbed the extra point. Filip Gustavsson got his 25th win of the season with 27 saves through overtime and was also a perfect 2-for-2 in denying Colorado in the shootout. The win stops a two game losing streak and pulls the Wild to within three points of the third place Avalanche. The Wild host the Rangers at 7 P-M on Thursday at Xcel Energy Center.
