Twins swept in St. Louis
(St. Louis, MO) — The St. Louis Cardinals used the long ball to dispatch the Minnesota Twins yesterday in Missouri 9-2. The victory completed a three-game sweep for St. Louis, outscoring Minnesota 19-6 in the three contests. The Cardinals scored five runs in the bottom of the third to take control of the contest. Pedro Pages and Victor Scott II each hit three-run home runs for the Redbirds, while Nolan Gorman also went deep. St. Louis right-hander Andre Pallante earned his first win after allowing two runs on four hits in five innings, and Steven Matz picked up the save. The Cardinals are 3-0 after getting Twins starter Bailey Ober. He was charged with the loss after getting tagged for eight runs on eight hits in two-and-two-third innings. Willi Castro homered in the losing effort for the Twins, who have dropped their first three games of the season. Minnesota visits the Chicago White Sox this afternoon at 1:10 P-M.
