TCU Le Center to bring back School Safety Patrol
This spring, TCU Le Center announced it would be bringing back its School Safety Patrol program, which help younger kids cross the street by training students to act as crossing guards.
Many students have expressed interest in the program according to TCU Special Education teacher, Colin Scott, who is also a member of the American Legion. Legion Post 108 will fully fund a trip to the Legionville camp in Brainerd this summer where four fifth graders — Jake Goettl, Kayla Hunt, Alaina Shevtsov and Colton Claffey, will learn the ins and outs of what it takes to be a crossing guard.
The hope is the students who serve on this year’s safety patrol will continue to serve as leaders on the school safety patrol for years to come. As they rise through the grade levels, they’ll help mentor younger students who join the program.
