Motorcyclist Arrested After Chase/Crash in Meeker County

A motorcyclist was arrested after a Meeker County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop him for a traffic offense and he fled Friday afternoon.

The chase began in the area of Highway 24 and County Road 2 at about 3:30pm.

The driver, later identified as 38-year-old James Harvey Zaske of Buffalo Lake, led deputies on a pursuit that spanned 30 miles, and reached speeds in excess of 100 MPH.

The motorcycle went into the ditch at the intersection of County Road 23 and County Road 1 and Zaske was taken into custody after fleeing the deputies on foot.

Authorities say he was booked into the Meeker County Jail for several charges related to the incident and his driving privileges had been canceled and he was not allowed to be driving.
