NEW ULM KNOWLEDGE BOWL TEAMS HAVE HISTORIC SHOWING AT STATE

New Ulm’s Knowledge Bowl Purple and Ivory Knowledge Bowl teams finished first and second in state competition.  The program’s previous best finish was third last year and have sent at least one team to state for nine years.  State competition consists of 15 schools with three competitions based on school sizes.  Social studies, science, math and geography were the team’s biggest strengths with English and grammar some of their weak points.  New Ulm High School had 71 kids from grades 9 – 12 in their Knowledge Bowl program this year.  And in another first, the Minnesota New Country School in Henderson sent a team to state for the first time – and finished first!!  MVL, St. Peter, Mankato East and West also sent teams to state.
