WINDOM POLICE INVESTIGATING FATAL SHOOTING, BURGLARY
Windom police are investigating a fatal shooting and a burglary early this (Wednesday) morning. Police say they were called just after 5:15 am to the 1400 block of 12th Avenue where officers found a 70-year-old woman with gunshot wounds. She was taken to Windom hospital where she died of her injuries. Then just before 5:30, police were called to the 1200 block of River road on a report of a man who had broken into a home. Police found the 38-year-old man in the bathroom and he was arrested. He was taken to Windom hospital to be treated for injuries and then was taken to the Cottonwood County Jail. Police believe the incidents are connected and there is no threat to the public. The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are assisting in the investigation.
