Stabbing Suspect Arrested in Maynard

A 26-year-old man is in custody at the Yellow Medicine County Jail suspected of stabbing a family member in a Maynard residence.

According to a news release from the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, a caller reported to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday that a man at a gas station near the U.S. Highway 71 and Minnesota Highway 7 intersection was in need of medical attention.

The man reportedly told gas station staff that he was stabbed at his home in Maynard.

Authorities say it was discovered that a domestic assault had occurred at the home between the victim and his step-son.

The step-son was arrested at the residence and is being held pending a court appearance on possible felony assault charges.
