Judge and Stanton Power Yankees Past Twins in 9-1 Rout

NEW YORK, NY — Aaron Judge broke out of a mini-slump with a long-awaited home run, and Giancarlo Stanton delivered his first four-hit performance in nearly two years as the New York Yankees cruised past the Minnesota Twins, 9-1, on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.

Carlos Rodón (12-7) was dominant on the mound, giving up just one hit over seven innings — a leadoff single to Austin Martin — and settling in after a 31-pitch first inning. It marked the first time a Yankees starter completed seven innings since Rodón himself went eight against the Cubs on July 11.

Judge launched his first home run since July 23, taking Twins rookie Travis Adams (1-2) deep in the opening frame. Stanton followed with a double in his first at-bat and later added a fifth-inning homer, along with two more singles to complete a 4-for-5 night — his first four-hit game since August 24, 2023, against Washington.

Anthony Volpe gave the Yankees a commanding lead in the second with a three-run homer, breaking a 1-1 tie and igniting a five-run outburst. The Yankees extended their winning streak over Minnesota to nine games.

It was the second time this season — and the 54th time overall, including postseason — that both Judge and Stanton homered in the same game.

Adams lasted just 2 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on four hits in his second loss of the season.

Rodón rebounded after loading the bases in the first inning — hitting Ryan Jeffers and surrendering a run on Royce Lewis’s groundout — by retiring 18 of the next 19 batters he faced. He ended the frame by striking out Kody Clemens and didn’t allow another runner past first base.

Stanton now has nine of his 14 career four-hit games in a Yankees uniform, showcasing a return to form that could be vital for New York down the stretch.

Up Next:
The Yankees hand the ball to rookie right-hander Cam Schlittler (1-2, 4.38 ERA) in Wednesday’s series finale. He’ll be opposed by Minnesota’s Joe Ryan (11-5, 2.79 ERA).
