WINTHROP INCIDENT UPDATE – ONE IN CUSTODY

A woman is in custody after an incident in Winthrop Friday morning that prompted a shelter-in-place from law enforcement on the 300 block of South Redwood Street.  The Sibley County Sheriff’s Office says it received a report of loud music coming from the home.  At 7 am, more calls were made to authorities reporting what people believed to be several gunshots in the area.  Winthrop police and the Sibley County Sheriff’s Office responded and issued a shelter-in-place.  Law enforcement was not initially able to make contact with the homeowner but additional resources from the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office were brought in and a 45-year-old woman was safely taken into custody.  Charges are pending.  Authorities say no one was hurt and there is no ongoing threat to the community.  The case is still under active investigation.  Gaylord police, the State Patrol and Winthrop ambulance also assisted at the scene.
