Twins Win Late Over Jays
The Minnesota Twins scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat the Blue Jays in Toronto 7-5 last night at the Rogers Centre. Mickey Gasper hit a game-tying home run to begin the inning before Matt Wallner launched a go-ahead three-run shot. Luke Keaschall also went deep in the victory, and Michael Tonkin earned his second win in relief. Twins manager Rocco Baldelli says his team messed up early and then responded late.
The Twins snapped a three-game skid and remain in fourth place in the A-L Central at 60-72. Toronto slugger George Springer hit a pair of homers in the losing effort, and Jeff Hoffman was charged with his fifth loss out of the pen. The Jays lead the A-L East with a 77-56 record. The Twins send Simeon Woods Richardson to the mound against Toronto tonight in the rubber game of the three-game set. First pitch is 6:07 P-M. Coverage begins at 5:30pm on KNUJ and SAM 107.3.
