SUSPICIOUS BROWN COUNTY FIRES

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office and county fire departments have responded to an unusual number of wildfires on or near CRP, wildlife management areas and other naturally vegetated land.  Authorities say several of these fires appear suspicious.  The sheriff’s office says between March 1 and Monday, they responded to 16 calls.  Last year, they responded to one call and two in 2022.  Authorities say 5 of the 16 fires were in Mulligan Township between Comfrey and State Highway 4 although there does not seem to be a specific pattern to the fires.  If you have any information, you are asked to call the Brown County Sheriff’s Office at 507-233-6700.
