Gophers Have Representation In Super Bowl On Sunday
(Santa Clara, CA/Minnesota News Network) — There will be a Golden Gopher flavor on defense when the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots play in Sunday’s Super Bowl game in Santa Clara, California. The Seahawks have former Gopher defensive end Boye Mafe of Hopkins as a contributing member. Mafe has played in all 19 games for Seattle this season, starting four of them. He has 35 tackles and two sacks. He played for the Gophers from 2018-2021 making 87 career tackles and 15 sacks. On the Patriots side of things, former Gopher linebacker Jack Gibbens has played in all 20 games this year, including nine starts. He has registered 96 total tackles, including eight tackles for a loss. He was with the Gophers in 2021. Former Gopher tight end Nick Kallerup of Wayzata will play for Seattle in Sunday’s game, which will kick off at 5:30 P-M.
