Minnesotans win Olympic Medals

(Cortina, IT/Minnesota News Network) — Duluth curlers Korey Dropkin and Cory Thiesse brought home the Olympic silver medal in mixed doubles. Korey and Cory lost to Sweden 6-5 in yesterday’s final in Italy. No U-S mixed doubles team had ever medaled at the Winter Olympics. Thiesse also makes history as the first American female curler to win on the Olympic stage. They train at the Duluth Curling Club, and more than 250 members attended a watch party yesterday.

Lakeville native Paula Moltzan is the first Minnesotan to medal in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina. Moltzan and Jackie Wiles of Team U-S-A earned a bronze yesterday in the women’s Alpine team combined event. Moltzan and Wiles finished .06 seconds ahead of U-S teammates Breezy Johnson and Mikaela Shiffrin. It’s the first Olympic medal for both Moltzan and Wiles.
