Gopher Men Back To Practice Today

(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The University of Minnesota men’s basketball team is back to practice today after having Monday and yesterday off. The Golden Gophers don’t play a game until Saturday night at Washington. Minnesota is coming off of a 67-62 home loss to Maryland on Sunday. Gopher head coach Niko Medved says he wanted to give his players two days off this week as its the final time this year they’ll be able to have back-to-back off days. He says the physical rest is important for a team that has been reduced to seven scholarship players due to injuries, but he adds the mental rest is equally important. The Huskies are 12-12 overall and 4-9 in the Big Ten and are hosting Penn State tonight. The Gophers are 11-13 overall and 4-9 in the Big Ten. Saturday’s game in Seattle tips off at 8 P-M, Minnesota time. Minnesota will stay out west and play Oregon next Tuesday night. Meanwhile, the Gopher women’s team hosts Nebraska tomorrow night at Williams Arena at 7 P-M.
