Gopher Baseball and Softball get wins over the weekend
(Minneapolis, MN) — The Golden Gopher baseball team knocked off Nebraska yesterday in Minneapolis 6-2, salvaging the final game of the three-game Big Ten series. Minnesota got a pair of hits and a pair of R-B-I from third baseman Jake Perry and a solid pitching outing from starter Tucker Novotny to notch the win. The Golden Gophers are now 21-21 overall and 7-11 in the Big Ten. Nebraska dropped to 30-16 overall and 12-6 in the conference. Minnesota will host Michigan State for a three-game Big Ten series this weekend.
(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota softball team salvaged the final game of their three-game home series against Nebraska yesterday 7-5. Breezy Burnett drove home two runs for the Golden Gophers, while Taylor Krapf, Sydney Strelow, Delanie Cox, and Nani Valencia had three hits apiece. Minnesota is now 27-24 overall and 13-10 in the Big Ten. Nebraska dipped to 29-22 overall and 12-9 in the conference. Both teams now move on to this weekend’s Big Ten Tournament in Iowa City. The Gophers will play Illinois on Wednesday at 1:30 P-M in an opening round game.
