NEW ULM MAN FACING MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES AFTER INCIDENT IN ESSIG
A New Ulm man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly strangling a victim and firing a shotgun during an altercation in February 10. 22-year-old Bryce Flitter has been charged with three counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of domestic assault by strangulation and two counts of intentional discharge of a firearm endangering safety. The criminal complaint says Brown County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home on East Ballpark Street in Essig for the report of a fight and gunshots. Authorities from the sheriff’s office, Sleepy Eye Police Department and the state patrol set up a perimeter and learned the Flitter had fled the scene. Deputies located the vehicle, pulled it over and Flitter was taken into custody without incident. The incident allegedly started in a bar in Sleepy Eye and made its way to the residence in Essig where Flitter allegedly pointed a shotgun at a victim, who was able to grab the barrel and rip it away from Flitter. He is in custody with bail set at $20,000 bail with conditions and $100,000 without conditions.
