NEW ULM RANKS HIGH ON AARP’S LIST OF BEST PLACES FOR OLDER AMERICANS TO LIVE

AARP has released its 100 best places to live for older adults and the list features 8 Minnesota cities and two counties.  For cities with a population of 5,000 to 24,999, New Ulm ranked the highest in the country at number 14.  La Crescent was 17, St. Anthony 19th, Marshall is at number 20 and Kasson number 25.  Great Neck Plaza, New York was number 1.  AARP says New Ulm, St. Anthony and Marshall are all new additions to the list.  St. Paul ranks number 5 and Minneapolis number 7 for cities with a population of 100,000 to 499,999.  In the list of counties and cities with a population over 500,000, Ramsey County placed fourth in the country, Hennepin County placed 11th.  AARP says there are 61 indicators including data on affordable housing,  jobs, health care availability, neighborhoods, environment, health, opportunity and engagement.  You can find the entire lists at aarp.org.
