ONE IN CUSTODY AFTER PURSUIT IN RENVILLE COUNTY

A rural Winthrop man is in custody in Renville County after a pursuit Friday morning.  The Renville County sheriff’s Office says they received a report that 64-year-old Thomas McDonald threatened to kill his probation officer.  An arrest warrant was issued and later Friday, the Renville and Sibley County Sheriff’s Offices were able to locate McDonald driving a vehicle in Sibley County and attempted to stop him.  McDonald led authorities on a 13-mile pursuit that ended in Franklin when tire deflation devices were used.  McDonald refused to exit his vehicle despite many commands and warnings so with the help of several deputies, officers and the Renville County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit,  he was eventually taken into custody.  He was taken for a dog bit at Olivia Hospital and Clinic and is currently being held in the Renville County jail.  Fairfax police the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office and state patrol all assisted in the incident.
