Senate Bill Prohibits Prescription Drug Companies from TV Ads
(Learfield News/St. Paul, MN) — If you’re tired of seeing all those TV commercials for prescription drugs, relief may be coming your way.
A proposal to prohibit prescription drug manufacturers from advertising on television is heading to the Minnesota Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee.
Republican State Senator Rich Draheim of Madison Lake says by spending billions of dollars on advertising, those costs get passed on to consumers through higher drug prices.
The proposal says that televised direct-to-consumer prescription drug ads are prohibited in every country except for the United States and New Zealand.
