Frost beat NY in Denver

(Denver, CO/Minnesota News Network) — The Minnesota Frost notched a 4-3 win over New York in a “Takeover Tour” game in Denver yesterday. Minnesota came out flying at Ball Arena, building a 4–0 lead through two periods in front of more than 15,500 fans. Former Gopher Grace Zumwinkle of Excelsior opened the scoring midway through the first, then added the eventual game-winner in the second with a laser down the right wing. Former Gopher Taylor Heise of Red Wing and Britta Curl-Salemme added goals of their own, giving the Frost full control after 40 minutes. But the New York Sirens made it interesting. They stormed back with three goals in just over four minutes in the third period, capitalizing twice on the power play to cut the lead to one. Minnesota held on through a frantic final stretch to secure the 4–3 victory. With the win, the Frost continue their strong post-Olympic run, now riding a three-game streak after returning from the break. Next up for the Frost is Wednesday home game against Ottawa.
