Larry Slawson
Larry Allan Slawson was born on June 18, 1951 in Greenbush, MN to Arthur and Leona (Kelly) Slawson. He was baptized and confirmed in the
Catholic faith and attended school in Greenbush and in 7th grade his family moved to Lake Bronson, MN where his favorite thing to do was to
go down the fire escape during fire drills. He later moved back to Greenbush where he graduated from high school in 1969. Growing up Larry
had many jobs such as delivering newspapers even when it was -40° and in the summers he mowed lawns. In high school Larry was the wrestling manager. Following his graduation, he attended the Thief River Falls AVTI where he studied auto body repair. Larry worked as an auto body repair man in the Greenbush area for 16 years and also worked in Red Lake Falls, MN. In the spring of 1985 Larry started working for the city of Greenbush at the Municipal Liquor store and also bartended. Larry was united in marriage to Pamela Bushie on October 26, 1985 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush and they made their home in Greenbush. In 1987 Larry went to work for Dick Timm at the T-Off Sale and then in 1994 he took a second job at Polaris Industries where he was employed for 18 years until he retired in 2012. He later worked for Diane and Chad Rud at One Better Liquor where he has since worked. Larry had a love of oldies music and helped set up the stage for various local bands. He had a passion for classic cars, with his favorite being the 1964 midnight blue Chevy Impala. He was very active in Scouting being a Scout Leader for the Greenbush Boys Scouts and was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus, being a proud 4th degree Knight. His favorite past times were camping, bonfires, car rides, Motorcycle rides, ATV rides, picnics, and watching Minnesota sports teams. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many people. Larry passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks with family by his side.
Larry is survived by his wife Pam of Greenbush, sons Shawn of Brooks, Mn, Arthur (Jennifer) of Greenbush; daughter Kayla (Michael) Tunheim of
Thief River Falls, grandchildren Izaak Slawson, Bentley Tunheim, Arthur Jr. Slawson, and Ella Tunheim, his bonus grandchildren: Jazmin Meyer
and Tyrel DuBois, his sisters Judy (Kent) Mertes of Champlin, MN, Jane (Steve) Kozitka of Ogema, MN, along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Leona.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, March 20, 2026 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush.
Visitation will be held after 5:00PM, Thursday at the church with a prayer service at 7:30PM. The Holy Rosary will be held at 7:10 led by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery following services.
