Twins take down Mariners
(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins didn’t pick up their first hit until the fifth inning of last night’s game against Seattle, and when they got it, they made it count. Shortstop Carlos Correa doubled off the wall in right field and drove home Max Kepler, who had reached on a two-base error earlier in the inning. Minnesota tacked on two runs in the seventh and held on to win 3-1. The Twins improved to 20-14 on the year, while Seattle dipped to 19-16. Minnesota starting pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson tossed six innings of one-hit, eight-strikeout baseball, but didn’t factor in the decision. Griffin Jax earned the win in relief, while Jhoan Duran registered a hold and Caleb Thielbar locked in the save. Christian Vazquaz and Manuel Margot drove home the go-ahead and insurance runs in the seventh. The same two teams play tonight at Target Field at 6:40 P-M.
